When the triglyceride levels in your blood are very high (at or above 500 mg/dL), it’s called severe hypertriglyceridemia, or sHTG.² A small number of people have a genetic form of sHTG called familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS). People with FCS have extremely high triglyceride levels (at or above 880 mg/dL) and are at serious risk of a condition called pancreatitis.⁸
